There are so many great things to do near Disneyland Paris for families, and although the Disneyland parks are likely to take up a lot of your time, it’s always nice to have some backup activities on hand.

With attractions within walking distance or just a short car journey away, families can venture out of the Disney bubble and experience more of what Paris and France have to offer. 

After visiting Disneyland Paris countless times in the past, I now like to throw in a few extra activities throughout our stay—even if it’s just for a few hours in the evening.

So, if you’re like me and enjoy having a jam-packed schedule, then here are some of the best things to do near Disneyland Paris for families, many of which you can reach on foot or via public transport

Kid-Friendly Activities Near Disneyland Paris

Whether you’re looking to fill an afternoon, or an entire day, then here are some of the best kid-friendly activities near Disneyland Paris. 

Disney Village

Disney Village is Disneyland Paris’ version of Disney Springs. And what’s great is that the bustling entertainment quarter, which boasts plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars, is just a short walk from the parks.

While strolling through the village, you’ll find everything from the Disney Store and Lego Store to themed restaurants like the Rainforest Cafe and Billy Bob’s Country Western Salon.

Plus, there is also a cinema, an arcade, and a hot air balloon, making Disney Village the perfect afternoon activity for those who need a break from the parks.

Val d’Europe Shopping

Just a 10-minute drive from Disneyland Paris is one of Europe’s largest shopping centres, the Val d’Europe. Featuring over 150 shops and restaurants, the Val d’Europe is an excellent family-friendly activity near Disneyland Paris—especially on rainy or overcast days.

With well-known brands like Adidas, H&M, and Mango, as well as restaurants serving various different cuisines, the Val d’Europe has something for everyone, even if you’re just looking to do some window shopping.

Distance from Disneyland Paris: 10-minute car journey or 2-minute train ride from Disneyland Paris to the Val d’Europe Station.

Val d’Europe Sealife Centre

On top of all of the Val d’Europe’s shops and restaurants, you’ll also find the Val d’Europe Sealife Centre—one of the best things to do near Disneyland Paris for families.

Home to hundreds of aquatic animals, the Val d’Europe Sealife Centre and its underwater tunnels and aquariums offer families the chance to learn more about the oceans and its inhabitants while also providing an escape from the heat and the rain. 

Entrance fee: €19.20 for adults (12+) and €15.20 for children.

Paris City Centre

If you have an entire day to spare, then why not head into Paris’ city centre? The city of Paris has so many incredible, family-friendly attractions to explore.

And as you can reach the city from Disneyland Paris by train or car in just 30 minutes, it is a convenient activity option that the entire family will enjoy. 

It goes without saying that some of the best things to do in Paris include the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, Jardin du Luxembourg, and the Musée d’Orsay. However, you could even venture out slightly further and visit the Palace of Versailles.

Then, once you’ve visited all of the city’s top historical monuments, you can grab a bite to eat in a quaint Parisian restaurant or cafe, browse the shops—both designer and high street—or stroll through the city’s gardens, stopping in a playground or two along the way.

Distance from Disneyland Paris: 30 minutes by car or train from Disneyland Paris to the Gare du Nord Station.

Disneyland Golf Course

Golf lovers will be happy to know that Disneyland Paris has its very own golf course! Open seven days a week, Golf Disneyland offers three 9-hole courses which you can combine together to create a full 18-hole round. 

Suitable for all skill levels, Golf Disneyland and its Mickey Shaped bunkers is up there as one of the best things to do near Disneyland Paris for families. And as it’s just a short car journey from the parks and includes a clubhouse with a restaurant and bar, both players and non-players can take in the beauty of the course and the surrounding rolling green scenery. 

Entrance fee: 18 holes costs €40 per adult and €21 per child from Monday to Friday. However, prices rise to €65 and €46 on weekends.

Provins Medieval Town

You can find a unique attraction near Disneyland Paris for families at the UNESCO World Heritage site, Provins. The medieval town of Provins features monuments, historical shows, gardens and activities which take you back to the middle ages to discover what life was like hundreds of years ago. 

With fortified gates and towers to explore, beautiful gardens boasting colourful flora and fauna, and shows to admire birds of prey, Provins guarantees to have something that will interest everyone.

La Vallée Village

Another great shopping area for those looking for things to do near Disneyland Paris for families is La Vallée Village. Unlike Val d’Europe, however, La Vallée Village is an entirely outdoor shopping centre which features over 100 luxury and premium brand outlet stores. 

You’ll find everything from Balenciaga and Givenchy to Levis and UGG at discounted prices. Plus, the shopping centre has cafes and restaurants serving gourmet treats.

So, you can really kick back and unwind in style.

Things To Do Near Disneyland Paris for Active Families

Parc Asterix

Parc Astérix

If you’re still in the theme park mood, then Parc Astérix is a great attraction near Disneyland Paris. Parc Astérix, which has been operating for the past 35 years, has large rollercoasters for the brave ones of the family, smaller rollercoasters and rides for children, and playgrounds for kids to run, climb, and play. 

With additional shows and performances, as well as onsite restaurants and shops, the Parc Astérix is an amazing day out for families who want to experience something other than Disney.

Villages Nature Paris

Villages Nature® Paris

The Villages Nature Paris is an eco-resort just 15 minutes out of Disneyland that has an incredible range of activities for families to enjoy.  Part of the Center Parc family, Villages Nature Paris combines the great outdoors with play areas and aquatic adventures to create an escape amongst Paris’ local flora and fauna. 

The resort boasts everything from playgrounds and water slides to farms and recreational sports. So it really is a haven for families with young children.

In order to use the facilities at Villages Nature Paris, you do need to stay on-site. But as the resort is just a short car ride from Disneyland, it’s a great hotel option for those who want the best of both worlds.
