On top of the beautiful warm weather, these states have ample amounts of activities to keep the little ones entertained, from the world-famous Walt Disney World to vast stretches of beaches, outdoor activities, and your typical tourist attractions.

Arizona With Kids

As the month of February progresses, temperatures in Arizona get warmer and warmer, so you can typically expect a comfortable 22 degrees, which is the perfect temperature for young kids.

Active families who are after the warmest places in the USA in February, in particular, will love Arizona as there are three national parks, which include one of the most famous, the Grand Canyon, and four national monuments that you can hike through until your heart’s content.

Phoenix

Phoenix is the capital of Arizona, and although it is a bustling city with world-class resorts and excellent golfing (dad might be pleased to hear about this), there are so many kid-friendly activities and attractions for little ones of all ages.

Best Hotels In Phoenix

Something I’ve always loved about the United States is the fact that there are so many accommodation options for all budgets and preferences. When I travel with my kids, I always look for accommodation with a pool because not only are they great to relax around, but your kids can burn off the last of their energy, ensuring they sleep peacefully throughout the night.

Here are some hotel and apartment recommendations in Phoenix that are great for families with children:

Best Things To Do In Phoenix

Firstly, one of the best things to do in Phoenix, Arizona, is to visit the national parks. Now you will have to drive a few hours, as the Grand Canyon, the Petrified Forest National Park, and the Saguaro National Park, are a few hours out of the city, but trust me, they’re totally worth it.

If you are planning on visiting the national parks, then don’t let the drive put you off, as there are accommodation options nearby and, of course, campgrounds that your family can pitch a tent in to get the ultimate national park experience. You just can’t visit Arizona and not check out one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world, so be sure to pack your hiking boots and have your camera at the ready.

For families who do enjoy the great outdoors, then you can even rent a kayak and paddle down the lower Colorado River, which is perfect for beginners and families. With flat waters, plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife, and the warm February weather, paddling down the lower Colorado River will definitely be a highlight of your trip.

And for families who prefer a more chilled-out holiday, then you can hop on a safari ride in the Camp Verde Wildlife Park, stroll around the ArizonaSonora Desert Museum, which has a botanical garden, an aquarium and a zoo, or let your kids run wild in the Children’s Museum of Phoenix

Sedona

Sedona is another great family-friendly destination in Arizona that is surrounded by canyons, pine forests, and red rock. It’s one of those cities that you’d think only exists in movies because it really is a beauty to behold.

Best Hotels In Sedona

With beautiful views of the red-rock and nearby canyons, these hotels in Sedona are absolutely breathtaking:

Best Things To Do In Sedona

Similar to Phoenix, Sedona is a few hours’ drive from Arizona’s three national parks, making it a great base point for families who want to explore the great outdoors. And if the national parks weren’t enough, Sedona is also home to the world-famous Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, Boynton Canyon, Oak Creek Canyon, and the Devil’s Bridge Trail which are perfect to explore in February when temperatures are mild and suitable for hiking.

Sedona is a place for active families as exploring the natural attractions is pretty much all there is to do there, however, if you still want to see the beauty of Sedona but you’re worried that the little legs of the family won’t keep up, then you can hop on a Jeep Ride which takes you off road through the canyons to see all the best spots.

California With Kids

The west coast state of California has an array of beaches, kid-friendly attractions, landmarks, and national parks to keep your entire family entertained for the duration of your trip. From Disneyland and the Joshua Tree National Park to the Hollywood Sign and Griffith Observatory, there really is something for everyone!

San Diego

There are two places in California that I recommend for families, and they are San Diego and Los Angeles. San Diego is the slightly cooler of the two, with highs of 19 degrees throughout the month of February, however, it is still one of the warmest places in the USA in February.

The city of San Diego may not have sprung to mind when thinking of a holiday destination, but after realising all there is to do, it might make its way onto your holiday bucket list

Best Beaches In San Diego

19 degrees may be a little too cool for a dip in the ocean, but your kids will at least love running around on the sand, followed by a well-deserved ice cream. La Jolla Shores Beach, Coronado Central Beach, and Moonlight Beach are three of the best kid-friendly beaches in San Diego, all with soft sand, calm waters, and nearby amenities for the perfect day at the beach.

If your kids are anything like mine, then they’ll be in the swimming pool regardless of the weather, outdoor temperature, or water temperature. Here are 5 of the best hotels in San Diego, all with pools for your little ones to enjoy:

Best Things To Do In San Diego

What I love about San Diego is the number of different things there are to do, as not only do you have miles and miles of soft sand, but you can also take a hike in the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve or drive out to Joshua Tree to experience the desert rugged rock national park.

And if that wasn’t enough, San Diego is also a haven for amusement park and tourist attraction lovers as the city has the San Diego Zoo, Legoland California, Seaworld San Diego, Aquatica San Diego Water Park, and Belmont Park. There is no getting bored in San Diego, that’s for sure.

Los Angeles

Los Angeles is another amazing holiday destination in California for families, and regardless of whether you’re a nature lover or prefer to fill your day with other activities, you’ll really be spoilt for choice during your stay in LA.

Best Beaches In Los Angeles

As temperatures in LA reach 21 degrees in February, the beach is a fantastic activity to get your kids outdoors, enjoying the fresh air and hopefully draining themselves of energy before bedtime.

Santa Monica State Beach, Zuma Beach, and Leo Carrillo State Beach are three of the best beaches in Los Angeles, all with great water and sand conditions and even opportunities to go rock pooling.

Best Hotels In Los Angeles

With all the fun you’ll be having in the day, it’s important that you have somewhere comfortable to rest your head in at night. Here are some of the best family-friendly hotels in Los Angeles:

Best Things To Do In Los Angeles

Families looking for an adventure in Los Angeles can head out to Joshua Tree National Park, Sequoia National Park, and Death Valley to appreciate the world’s largest trees and impressive desert landscapes. In the summer months, Death Valley can see temperatures of up to 48 degrees, making February, with its under 30-degree temperatures, an excellent time to visit.

But, if national parks aren’t your thing, then your family can enjoy the Griffith Observatory, where you can look through telescopes and learn about outer space, hike up to the Hollywood Sign and capture an iconic photo, ride thrilling rollercoasters in Universal Studios, and of course, visit Mickey and his friends in Anaheims Disneyland Park

Florida with Kids

Florida is very well known as being the sunshine state, and in the second month of the year, temperatures reach up to 23 degrees making it one of the warmest places in the USA in February. As February is technically out of peak season, prices for attractions and crowd levels will be the best you’re ever going to get, so it really is a great time to visit Florida, especially with little ones in tow.

Orlando

Orlando is by far the most popular destination in Florida, mainly because of the Walt Disney World Parks, Universal Studios, and the various other attractions that draw millions of people into the state each year. If you’ve never been to Orlando, then it’s one of the best holiday destinations with little ones, and I’ve been taking my kids for years, with no signs of that coming to a halt any time soon.

Best Family Hotels In Orlando

Unless you’re hiring a car (which I recommend doing!), then you’ll want to stay in a hotel close to the hustle and bustle to cut down on taxi costs. Here are some fantastic options which are close to the parks and other Orlando attractions:

A round up of the best hotels in Orlando for families if you are in a hurry!

Best Things To Do In Orlando

Of course, it goes without saying that one of the best things to do in Orlando is to visit the Walt Disney World Parks. Walt Disney World is one of my favourite places on Earth, and I just couldn’t visit Orlando without heading into at least one park.

For families with slightly older kids who have done Walt Disney World, then Universal Studios is another great option. Universal definitely has the bigger, scarier, and more thrilling rides that I’m sure teens and pre-teens will love.

You really can’t beat Orlando when it comes to holiday destinations for kids, as aside from the world-famous Disneyworld and Universal, Orlando also has SeaWorld Orlando, Discovery Cove, Legoland Florida, WonderWorks, Gatorland, Mini Golf Courses, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, The Florida Mall, and Air Boat Rides through the everglades. I told you it was the ultimate holiday destination.

Best Beaches In Miami

Of all the beaches in Miami, Crandon Park Beach, Bill Boggs Cape Florida State Park, North Shore Open Space Park are definitely favourited by families.

Crandon Park Beach is a popular beach on Key Biscayne, and with calm water, palm trees offering shade, and a playground close by, your kids won’t want to leave. Bill Boggs Cape Florida State Park is a beach that is great for swimming as there are very few waves, and North Shore Open Space Park has playgrounds, picnic areas, and barbecue spots.

After a long day at the beach, there is nothing better than heading back to the hotel, having a shower, and a little afternoon nap. Below are some of the best hotels in Miami for families:
