Lapland Deals
Lapland is a magical place and DIY is one of those times where you can really save money and still have an a magical experience.
We booked Lapland as a DIY and saved thousands off a package price. Our trip was 7 days with flights, the Santa Train and included Rovaniemi and Levi areas and was a fraction of a 3 day All inclusive package price.
If you are searching for really easy trip, lower cost but still super magical, you can easily just visit Rovaniemi. There you have Santa Claus Village which is free to enter (and Santa Park- paid for entry but activities included) all within easy reach.
Meet Santa Claus and Mrs Claus, their friendly elves and reindeer. Go husky sledding or enjoy reindeer sleigh rides and even maybe see the Northern Lights.
A little know fact is the Santa Claus Office is free to visit. These deals include a magical visit with Santa, which is fopen all year round from 10am-5pm. You can’t take your own photos but you can purchase a photo package from around £40. Doing it this way saves a small fortune and is still magical!
The rest of the Santa Claus Village, including crossing the Arctic Circle line and visiting the Main Post Office where you get a postmark from the Artic Circle, is also free to enter and wander around.
A top tip, is bring your own marshmallows and skewers, or even some sausages and enjoy cooking your treats around one of the open fires.
Most of the other activities at the village (like reindeer rides, husky rides, and souvenirs) do have a separate cost but they don’t need to be booked in advance and they offer shorter taster sessions to suit all budgets.

Remember, snow is NOT guaranteed. It is most likely to be snowy around mid December through to March. We went the 10th Decemeber and had heaps of snow. My feedback would be, if you can wait til December, then do so, even if the deals are great for November. A much cheaper alternative is to visit in January, February or March. Santa is still available, and you will get that magical setting.
