Hilton Tulum Riveria Maya All-Inclusive Resort
This all inclusive hotel covers all ages – from toddlers to teens. For little ones, there is waterpark playground and splash play area with fountains and slides. Plenty of sun beds line this area, with palms providing some shade. For indoor fun, there is a bright kids’ club with an indoor playroom. Activities include:
- Piñata making
- Mask decorating
- Coin hunting
- Pool float races
For older kids and teens there is a teens club with the following activities:
- Water volleyball
- Cinema room
- Ping pong
- Billiards
- Field hockey table
- Video games
There are 8 outdoor pools in total surrounded by sun loungers and one of the pools is just for adults. One further pool is in the spa.
Rooms can sleep up to four people, with a king-size bed or 2 double beds. A downside is the connection time to Cancun airport – which is approximately 85 minutes but it is still one of the closest options if you decide to visit Tulum with kids.
Sueños Tulum
Sueños Tulum sits directly on the beach, making it ideal for families with little ones because, let’s be honest, sometimes, you just really don’t want to travel too far from your hotel.
In addition to the incredible beach access, Sueños Tulum has a swimming pool surrounded by palm trees that really give it that tropical paradise feel and shady spots.
Compared to the larger, overcrowded resorts, Sueños Tulum has a more intimate and peaceful atmosphere, as there is only a small selection of suites, penthouses, and clubhouses. All of these have one or more double beds, fans, and incredible ocean views. Cots are free for those 2 and under but kids over 3 are considered adults and must pay for an additional bed.
Sueños Tulum has an on-site bar, restaurant, spa treatments, and even yoga classes, so you can really get your early morning zen on to set you up for another blissful day in Mexico.
Bahia Principe Grand Tulum
With a waterpark added in 2020 to the complex (next door at the Grand Coba), this hotel is even more appealing to families.
Bahia Principe Grand Tulum is a resort with a front row seat to the beauty of the Riviera Maya. Out the front, you’ll find a pristine white-sand beach, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and exploring the underwater world. To the back, the resort is bordered by thick jungle, providing a sense of seclusion and tranquility.
This unique setting gives guests the best of both worlds. They can enjoy the laid-back beach vibes during the day and then venture into the jungle for some exploring or adventure activities in the evening.
The hotel has a Kids’ club for 4 to 12-year-olds and a a teens club for 13 to 17-year-olds only. The Grand Tulum is approximately 135 minutes from Cancun Airport.
Access to sister hotel facilities
As an added bonus, guests of Bahia Principe Grand Tulum can also use the facilities at the sister hotel, Bahia Principe Grand Coba.
Mimosa Tulum
One thing I love about staying in tropical destinations is the unique hotels like Mimosa Tulum. This beach-vibe property is part hotel and part hostel, but the deluxe private rooms are beautiful standalone teepee-looking buildings that are nothing as you’ve ever seen before.
All in all, younger families will truly enjoy Mimosa Tulum, as not only is there a bar and a terrace, but there is also a shared kitchen so you can cook up meals for your little ones whenever they get hungry. And don’t worry, if your kids need to burn off their stored up energy, they can do so running around the properties garden or swimming to their heart’s content in the outdoor swimming pool.
La Zebra a Colibri Boutique Hotel
One of the next best Tulum hotels for families is La Zebra a Colibri Boutique Hotel which actually has its own mini beach club attached to it! And don’t worry, I use beach club loosely, it’s more of a beachfront bar with a playground and swimming pool for kids.
All the rooms in La Zebra are beautifully designed with neutral shades and earthy tones, which ultimately make them blend in with their surroundings. And with a selection of rooms with garden views, sea views, plunge pools, and balconies, there is a room at La Zebra for all preferences.
Ahau Tulum
The entrance to Ahau Tulum really resembles Te Fiti from Moana, so if your little ones are Moana-obsessed, then Ahau Tulum is the best family resort in Tulum for you. The beauty of this property, however, doesn’t just stop at the entrance, as Ahau Tulum has stunning rooms, grounds, and beachfront access that really make it impossible to leave.
Even the most basic rooms at Ahau Tulum are magnificent, let alone the rooms that look like little treehouses. With solar panels, wind panels, and a rain-catching system, Ahau Tulum has made it their mission to be as eco-friendly as possible while giving their guests a relaxing stay right on the beach.
Cabanas Tulum Beach Hotel & Spa
Another of the best resorts in Tulum for families is Cabanas Tulum Beach Hotel and Spa, which has rooms located right on the beach. In the event that your kids are done playing about in the sand (do they ever get tired of it?), you can retreat to the hotel’s onsite beach club or restaurant, where you can enjoy a cocktail or two while watching the sunset over the ocean.
What makes Cabanas Tulum so great for families, though, is the fact that all rooms have either a private pool or a hot tub meaning your kids can splash around until it’s time for bed. It doesn’t get much better than that, does it?
Jashita Hotel
If you’re after one of the best luxury hotels in Tulum for families, then look no further than Jashita Hotel. This incredible resort is located right on a white sand beach with three outdoor pools and an onsite bar and restaurant.
And when I say Jashita Hotel looks like paradise, I truly mean it. With various different rooms to choose from, including those with private balconies and pools, Jashita Hotel is the perfect luxury resort for families of up to four people.
Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa
One of the better, bigger all-inclusive family resorts in Tulum, Mexico is Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa, which has acres of tropical gardens, jungle, and soft sand, so your kids can really run wild for hours on end.
Aside from the ample amounts of room, Dreams Tulum has an Explorer’s Club for kids that comes equipped with a mini splash park, a Core Zone Teens Club to keep the older ones entertained, and on-site watersports for those times when you need a little adventure.
With gourmet dining options, unlimited alcoholic beverages, nightly entertainment, and an on-site spa, Dreams really is one of those resorts that have all your needs taken care of.
Additionally, when it comes to rooms, you really are spoilt for choice as each room comes with a bathtub and one or more double beds, air conditioning and a balcony or patio area with a hammock to really give it that tropical feel.
Mereva Tulum by Blue Sky
Mereva Tulum by Blue Sky is yet another beachfront hotel in Tulum for families. With two outdoor pools, a private dock, and complimentary paddleboarding, kayaking, and snorkelling, it’s the perfect getaway destination for active families who enjoy being out in the sun.
All rooms at Mereva Tulum are air conditioned with sea view balconies that give you the most breathtaking views of the Caribbean sea. Some of the more expensive rooms at the hotel include private plunge pools and more than one bed, but you’ll find that all rooms come with a complimentary breakfast that really sets you up for the day.
Ophelia Tulum Hotel
One of the next best family hotels in Tulum is Ophelia Tulum Hotel which has a large outdoor swimming pool (with a closed-off shallow end for kids) and a garden area that is perfect for your little ones to play around in.
In particular, the thing I really love about Ophelia Tulum Hotel is the architecture and design aspects that give the property a sleek and clean feel. With apartments equipped with kitchenettes and round beds that your kids will talk about for weeks on end, Ophelia Tulum Hotel really gives you everything you need to successfully holiday with kids.
The Waves Tulum
With just one look at The Waves Tulum, you can understand where it gets its name from. This hotel is a haven for families as all rooms come with fully stocked kitchens that really come in handy if you’re holidaying on a budget. Netflix is provided too!
Alongside the kitchens, some rooms even have private plunge pools and spacious balconies, so even when the kids have gone to bed, you can relax with some peace and quiet.
Alternatively, when you are ready to socialize, The Waves Tulum has a few different outdoor pools and a little playground for kids where they can not only make friends but hopefully tire themselves out.
Una Vida
Una Vida is nothing short of luxury. This jungle-inspired property sits roughly 5 km away from the beach, however, its jungle and garden views really make up for it. Among tall trees, admire dream catchers and locally sourced handcrafts, with a zen like pool.
At Una Vida, there is a range of accommodation options to choose from, from standard rooms with terraces to a three-bedroom luxury house with a private pool, kitchen, and living area.
Regardless of which of the 17 rooms you choose from, however, all guests at Una Vida can make use of the pools and common areas.
