Alcudia Beach

Many people will agree that Alcudia in northern Majorca, with its 3.4 kilometers of white sand beach, is one of the best beaches in Majorca as there is plenty of space for kids to play and shallow turquoise water that they can splash around in.
With it being a popular beach comes the reassurance that there are lifeguards on duty and beach equipment like parasols and sunshades for hire. There are also many amenities along the beach, such as cafes and restaurants, as well as a climbing frame, play area, and a wooden walkway that makes pushing a buggy a breeze.
Distance from Palma: 40 minutes

Cala d’Or Gran
Cala d’Or consists of several beaches, with Gran being the largest. Here, you’ll find toilets, showers, parasol hire and wheelchair / buggy access. In the summer, the beach if lifeguarded as well.
This is also where you’ll want to head to hire a peddle boat or motorboat. Overlooking the beach are several hotels and restaurants that serve food and drinks on their terraces with a view.

Cala d’Or Petita Beach
Petita Beach is quieter than Gran which is a bit further north but still walking distance to the shops. A popular bar serving pizza is very welcoming. Our favourite time to visit was dusk. Grab a takeaway pizza and wine whilst the kids play. There are a few umbrellas available.
Cala Agulla
Cala Agulla is one of the furthest beaches from Palma on this list, however, if you’re holidaying on the east side of the island, it is an absolute paradise that you won’t want to miss.
The beach is surrounded by pine forests and the mountains of the Llevant National Park, but what really brings tourists in is the impeccably calm turquoise waters and the soft white sand that covers the entire beach.
Distance from Palma: 1 hour and 10 minutes
Cala Mesquida
Cala Mesquida is another beach on Majorca’s east shore, and if you’ve made the journey over there, it is only a 15-minute drive from Cala Agulla, meaning you can visit both beaches in one day.
Like Cala Agulla, Cala Mesquida has beautiful soft sand that stretches for 350 meters and crystal clear waters and dunes that are perfect for sunbathing, sandcastle making, and just overall relaxing.
As the beach is fairly unprotected, however, on windier days, the size of the waves increases and may become unsuitable for little ones to play in. There is a lifeguard on hand, but that is something to keep in mind if you plan to visit.
Distance from Palma: 1 hour and 15 minutes
Canyamel Beach
If you’re after a slightly quieter beach and you don’t mind traveling, then Canyamel is one of the best beaches in Majorca. It is around a 50-minute drive from Palma, but because of this distance, it rarely sees large crowds, even in high season.
Canyamel has just under 3 kilometers of sand and has all the facilities you would need for a family day out at the beach. There is a lifeguard on duty, toilets and showers, car parking, and even a small park for kids to play in.
You’ll find that the sand is slightly darker in color at Canyamel than at other beaches in Majorca, but the water is still that brilliant shade of blue that just makes you want to jump in and have a swim.
Distance from Palma: 1 hour
Ciudad Jardí
Ciudad Jardí is one of the closest beaches to Palma’s center, making it a great option for families who don’t want to travel too far. The beach has everything you’d need, from soft sand and shallow waters to sun loungers and parasol hire.
Once you’ve finished up at the beach, you can stroll along and grab an ice cream from one of the ice cream parlors, stop and grab lunch in the seaside restaurants and cafes, or burn off some steam in the nearby play area before heading back to your hotel for a much-needed siesta.
Distance from Palma: 15 minutes
Es Dolc
Es Dolc may be a 45 minutes drive from Palma, but as it has Blue Flag status, it is definitely worth the journey. The sand at Es Dolc is post-card worthy, and with beautiful turquoise, crystal clear waters, your little ones won’t ever want to leave.
What makes Es Dolc so spectacular is the fact the entire beach is largely unspoiled. You can still rent sun loungers, parasols, and even pedal boats, and there is a large beach bar where you can purchase drinks and snacks, but the facilities are very limited.
Distance from Palma: 45 minutes
Es Trenc Beach
Es Trenc is 7 kilometers long and unspoiled by resorts and hotels, making it a great option for families who want a more relaxing day out at the beach. There are a few beach bars and restaurants not too far from Es Trenc, as well as lounge hires and toilets, but if you’re in need of a shower, then the clear ocean water will have to do as you won’t find any along the beach.
On windy days the waters at Es Trenc can produce some waves, but for the most part, your little ones will be able to splash around in the shallows with little to no trouble.
Distance from Palma: 45 minutes

Platja Cala Major, Palma
A beach close to the centre of Palma. Parking can be an issue so head there early. Showers and WC are available plus an accessibility ramp. There is a beach restaurant overlooking the water.
Palmanova Beach
Palmanova is a popular tourist resort, and with it being only a 20-minute drive from Palma, it is a great option for families with little ones who want to enjoy their time in the capital and lounge around on the beach.
As with most beaches in Mallorca, Palmanova has soft sand, turquoise waters, and play areas for kids, and it also boasts toilets, showers, beach bars, and restaurants, along with lifeguards and sun lounger hire to make your day even more relaxing.
Distance from Palma: 20 minutes
Playa De Muro
For families staying in northern Mallorca, then Playa De Muro is another family-friendly beach that showcases the typical clean water and white sand that the island is known for.
If you’re traveling with slightly older kids, then you can keep them entertained with activities like banana boating and kayaking while the babies of the family splash around in the shallows and make sandcastles on the shore.
Distance from Palma: 45 minutes

Puerto Pollensa
Puerto Pollensa has all the facilities you need for a family beach holiday along with a more Spanish feel, as the area isn’t too commercialised with hotels and resorts.
The beach usually has calm waters thanks to its horse-shaped bay, and with playgrounds and restaurants not too far away, it is a great option for families with little ones who don’t want to spend the entire day on the sand.
Distance from Palma: 50 minutes
